Melksham Music & Drama present: Pirates of the River Avon

MELKSHAM Music and Drama is inviting you to join them on an adventure of a lifetime as they prepare their latest pantomime, ‘Pirates of the River Avon.’ At the helm is Mandy Raikes-May who directed and wrote the panto, which is bound for Melksham Assembly Hall from the 15th-18th of February.“It’s something the whole family can enjoy.” Tickets are £7 for adults and £5 for concessions and are available from Melksham Assembly Hall, Tourist Information Centre and online at. www.mmad.org.uk

Jon Richardson is coming to Melksham!

Jon Richardson, host of Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Week; team captain on 8 Out Of 10 Cats; and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, is set to play Melksham Assembly Hall on 8th March 2012 as part of his Funny Magnet nationwide tour. Melksham lights up for Christmas!

The Christmas Lights Group have dedicated this year’s festive display to Melksham man Roy Bowen who was influential in founding the group around 20 years ago. Sadly, Roy died earlier this year. His widow, Julia, switched on Melksham’s Christmas lights on Saturday 26th November. Paul Weymouth and his team of volunteers work around the clock to make sure Melksham’s lights are the best within miles!

Alex Sears: Talented Melksham singer nears 100,000 YouTube hits

While scouting online for local talent, Melksham TV came across Alex Sears, a young, Melksham based musician. His music, mostly shot from the comfort of his sofa has accumulated nearly 100,000 total hits on YouTube. You can download his FREE EP at www.http://alexsears.bandcamp.com

This amazing video shows a test rider coming out of the Famous Avon gates which are still there today. He gives the bike and tyres a good work out, and all while wearing a smart suit and no helmet!

Melksham supports Children in Need 2011

SCHOOLS and businesses across the town have shown their support for this year’s Children in Need fundraising event, by dressing in spots and fancy dress, with a handful of brave teachers at one school opting to have their legs waxed. Money is still being donated for the BBC’s annual Children in Need appeal, but the current total raised on Friday 18th November is already over £26million – an increase on previous years.

Melksham joins in the global movement of ‘Movember’

The biggest fight of his career – Melksham boxer Liam Richards

MELKSHAM boxer Liam Richards is undergoing intensive training for his biggest fight to date, a chance to win the English Super Bantamweight title.
Liam already holds the British Masters Super Featherweight title after defeating Steve Gethin in May. Now, he finds himself part of promoter Frank Warren’s billing, facing off against Ryan Walsh, on the 21st of October at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, East London, in an attempt to bag the vacant title.
